Scientific diving is regulate by: National law (Swedish Work Environment Authority, Provision AFS 2010:16).

National licence for scientific diving: No national licence for scientific diving is needed but can be obtain anyway. The basic licence for diving work is Certificate S30.

Swedish Scientific Diver - advanced (corresponds to the AESD Standard)

Certificates are issued after recommendation from the Swedish Scientific Diving Committee. The applicant then also gets "Scientific Diver" added to his professional diving certificate (e.g. S30).

National regulations: No national licence for scientific diving is needed but can be obtain anyway. The basic licence for diving work is Certificate S30.

ESD/AESD issuing authority respectively authority providing national equivalence list to ESD/AESD: The correspondent levels to the ESD and AESD Standards is named Swedish Scientific Diver - basic (corresponds to the ESD Standard)

Swedish Scientific Diver - advanced (corresponds to the AESD Standard)

The certificate is a personalized sheet of paper with the logos of the Armed Forces and the Diving and Naval Medicine Centre.

Level of acceptance of scientific diving licences (i.e. ESD/AESD certificates) of other European countries: Certificates corresponding to the ESD and AESD Standards are fully recognized and allows the diver to perform professional diving work including scientific diving.
